Tom Vilsack Shows Interest in Ulstraw Eco Firelighters
During a Vietnam visit, US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack learned about Ulstraw's rice-straw firelighter model and its rural impact.

Hanoi, Vietnam – On April 19th, 2023, US Minister of Agriculture Tom Vilsack had a talk with students of the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, where he emphasized the importance of agriculture for economic development, food security, and environmental protection
During the discussion, ULSTRAW’s Eco Firelighters caught the attention of the Minister of Agriculture, who praised the product for its potential to reduce environmental impact and increase efficiency in the agricultural sector. Eco Firelighters, made from natural materials such as rice straw and wax, has been developed as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fire starters.

The meeting also focused on the challenges and opportunities for Vietnam and the US to work together in the agricultural sector, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate change crisis. Minister Vilsack acknowledged Vietnam’s progress in reducing poverty, increasing exports, and improving food safety, and expressed his hope that more Vietnamese students will pursue higher education and careers in agriculture.
